Hello, would someone please tell me what's the difference between "heap" and "pile" ? thank you in advance.

For me, pile is usually neat, since you can have a "neat pile" and a "messy pile". I think that you will see it with adjectives more. Whereas, with a heap, it suggests untidiness. For example, were I to have a "heap of clothes" I would have many items of clothing thrown over each other (and probably ready to fall over), and if I were to have a "pile of clothes", I would be setting t
