Grammar

heal or healing

"She was starting to believe her son was dead and wanted his body found to help her and her devastated familiy heal."

I would like to know is the heal* grammatically correct here? I don't think so, since I search on dictionary and it show 'heal' is a verb only. Therefore in order to fit it into this context I believe it should be a *healing* in stead of *heal.

Please feel free to comment on this.

Cheers, Sam

to help her (to) heal (It's correct.) The meaning is something like *to help that she heal or *to help for her to heal. (But it's not expressed in English in these ways.)

Instead, help is followed by a clause with a subject in the object case and a bare or full infinitive.

to help him heal / to help him to heal
to help them sleep / to he
