Heads out/heads off/takes off?

If I want to say that a man exits his apartment, not urgently or anything, he just leaves. Should I say that he heads out/heads off/takes off? Or anything else?

Those are all OK as very casual English. Less casual is eg he leaves eg he goes out Clive
