Hi,

Perhaps I could add a little more detail.

'To head ... somewhere' has the ides of 'go in that direction'.

'To drop by ... a place' is to visit it casually, eg without a prior arrangement.

Hi, I was heading over to the hospital, and I was passing your house, so I decided to drop by for a few minutes.

Best wishes, Clive

Thank you both, but can you tell me what is the difference between head over and head to?

Hi,

... what is the difference between head over ('to') and head to?

'... over to...' suggests the place you are heading to is not far away.

I'm heading to school.

I'm heading to a town 500 kms away from here.

I'm heading over to school.
