Head of department

Hello,

I'm not sure whether the sentence "She was promoted to head of department ..." requires any definite articles.

Should it be "the head" or "the departmet" or maybe I should use both articles?

Thank you

If the name of the position is being said, you would likely say, “She was promoted to Department Head.”

Also, if the name of the department were used, “She was promoted to head of the English Department.”

Otherwise, it would be, “She was promoted to head of the department.”
