He would rather do

1. You would rather wait here than at the house.
2. He would rather die than appear vulnerable.
3. He would rather sleep than eat.

I think when the subject of "would rather" is "you," "might as well" indicates recommendation.
Then, I'd like to know if "He/ she might as well do" means "I think he/ she would probably want to do so."
