He whispered to me out of the fire and kept saying

A person keep having visions so he is like hearing voices...

Can you please let me know if it's correct to put it that way "he whispered to me out of the fire and kept saying"?

He looked at me and said: "After the camps do you really think we can still remember?

And how could/can I describe Shabbat dinner? We danced around the Rabie, all the children.

But I remember this one thing he told us over and over again and I'll never forget this for the rest of my life: "children my dear sweet, children ", he whispered to me out of the fire and kept saying:
