Dear all,

A person named Tom was walking to his house. When he reached about a mile near his house, it began to rain. In this context, kindly tell me which of the following sentences is correct. If both are incorrect, please correct them.

1) He was within a mile of the house when it began to rain.

2) He was about one mile to go to reach his house when it began to rain.

Again Tom was travelling/walking away from his house. In this context which of the following sentences is correct. If both are incorrect, please correct them.

1) He was within a mile of the house when it began to rain. (can we say this in both contexts)

2) He travelled/Walked just a mile from his house when it began to rain.
