He was accompanied to the clinic

Hi everyone,

I saw the sentence "He was accompanied to the clinic by a relative or a friend" in a book. I think that the sentence should be corrected as "He was accompanied by a relative or a friend to the clinic". I'd like to get your opinion on this.
