He read was for saw. Thanks

Dear all,

Could you help me out with the following question. Thank you very mcuh.

Some left-handed children see letters and words backwards. They read was for saw. Does that mean the exact word is “was”, but they think it is “saw” because they read it in an opposite direction? Is my explanation correct?
