No. "He finally/actually became a professional."

In very casual use, we sometimes hear, "he finally/actually made pro." "He made the big time."
"He made professional" without the article.

He is really professional.
He has the character to be a professional.
He studied hard and became a professional.

This is used for sports, when a person joins a top-level team.

He became a pro.
He made the pros.
He made it to the big league.

I have not heard it used in a business context (eg. professional engineer.)
