(1) He is of the opinion that a new coach should train the team.


I have read the above many times on the Internet articles.

However, I have learnt to say ' His opinion is that a new coach should train the team.

Would you agree with the first sentence?

Your example is an alternate way to say the same thing. In the sense that I am of the opinion that it is grammatical I "agree" with it, yes!
