In the sentence "He is a hardworking man, a distinctive characteristic of the Wayne family" is the grammar correct?

It's not a very good sentence. It sounds as if "a hardworking man" is a characteristic, which isn't possible. Characteristics are abstract qualities.

It's not a very good sentence. It sounds as if "a hardworking man" is a characteristic, which isn't possible. Characteristics are abstract qualities.

I wouldn't say it's wrong, but to me it sounds odd.
I suggest eg He works hard, a distinctive characteristic of the Wayne family.

One problem with your version is that it seems to ignore the fact that the Wayne family includes women. My version encompasses both men and women.

Very broadly speaking, a comma indicates where you would naturally pause, very briefly, in speaking.

I can't think of a reason why you would want to pause briefly here.

I use comma to put stress on verbs or words generally, that I think have more important me
