He forgot to wipe the lipstick mark off his cheek and left the flat.

Hi

Is this sentence natural? Any suggestions please?

He forgot to wipe the lipstick mark off his cheek and left the hotel room.

Thanks,

Tom

It reads oddly. I think it's because leaving is an action but forgetting isn't, or at least isn't the same kind of action.. So it's odd to just link them with and.

  • You could say eg He forgot to wipe the lipstick mark off his cheek before he left the hotel room.
  • The underlined phrase is fine.
