having + Past participle (Adv. phrases)

I'd like you to clarify this to me. How can I know if I have to use present participle form or

having + past participle form in these examples? Are there rules about them?

a) Realizing about it, I decided to mend the situation.

b) Having realized about it, I decided to mend the situation.

Best wishes.

I think that both work, but you'll need to replace: Realizing about it with Realizing (the fact) that ... and Having realized about it with Having realized (the fact) that ... or similar.

I think that both work, but you'll need to replace:

Realizing about it
with
Realizing (the fact) that ...

and

Having realized about it
with
Having realized (the fact) that ...

or similar.

Either form (simple participle or perfect participle) is fine.

But we don't say "realize about".

and we do not differentiate between the two forms.
