Having a lover

I heard there are two different words to say that a married person has a lover. The word choice denends on gender: one word for a wife and another for a husband. Is it true? And what are the words?

I probably didn't express myself clearly enough. I actually wanted to get verbs describing the fact of being dishonest. And as I was told the verbs for wife and husbant are different. Something like betray for man and be unfaithful for woman.

Hi.

The relationship is called liaison.

I don't know of any verbs for marital infidelity that are specific to one gender. A man or a woman can betray his/her spouse, or cheat on him/her, or be unfaithful, or have an affair. Why don't you ask the person who told you there were distinct verbs what they had in mind?

Hi,

The common verb I see today for both genders is 'cheat'.
