Having a borderline Asperger's-like recall of the life

Being unengaged is worse than being poor, fat, friendless, or having a borderline Asperger’s-like recall of the life, career and great thoughts of Balearic DJ Danny Rampling and his Manumission posse.

Hi,

The bolded part in the above really confuses me. Would you explain it for me? Thanks.

It's from the following link:

Line 5, paragraph 8.

It's humorous writing. "having a borderline Asperger’s-like recall" means remembering and reciting large numbers of unimportant facts with almost the same degree of obsession that people with Asperger’s syndrome (aka autism), are supposed to devote to this activity. In this case, the unimportant subject is Balearic DJ Danny Rampling (presumably he DJ'd a lot in the Balearic Islands, probably Ibiza) and his Manumission posse ("posse" is a slang word for a group of rappers or DJs, and "Manumission" is apparently some sort of dance music club or club event).

  • If you do some Googling you will doubtless find as much as you want to know about Mr Rampling and Manumission.

Thanks, Mr. Wordy.

Got it!

By the way, there is "in that order" after "posse" in the original. What does "in that order" mean? Thanks again.

AngliholicWhat does "in that order" mean?

Well... she's obviously humorously assigning a relative importance to all the things mentioned, but I don't know whether it's an ascending or descending order of importance, and I can't figure out which one she imagines is funnier. It's a kind of throwaway remark, so perhaps it doesn't really matter.
