I am reading a book with my 4 year old- Face Painitng
When you are reading Face Painting together, you can help your child by:
Focusing on their interests and having fun talking about the book together. "Which animal would you like to have your face painted as?"

Please explain to me the grammatical form and function of "having fun talking"?

My guess:
"Having fun" as there is no finite or tensed verb must be a gerund acting as an object of preposition.
"Talking about the book together" seems to be an adverb answering the why adverb question-
Having fun while talking about the book together.
