Having is the continuous/progressive form of have.

I have a computer!

I am having a picnic, would you like to come?

Are you having a party?

Do you have a pen?

Verbs with -ing suggest activity.

why then "When are we having an election?" couldnt be "when will we have an election"
and why is it a continuous scentence?

can i say "im having a stomachache"??
