Vocabulary

Haven't ~ yet VS have ~ yet

1. You have done it yet?

2. You haven't done it yet?

Q) I have thought yet is used with not.

But I heard the different case. Yet was not used with not. Something like #1 and #2.

Are they different?

Yet was not used with not. Something like #1 and #2. #2 doesn't qualify.

  • Yet was not used with not.
  • Something like #1 and #2.
  • #2 doesn't qualify.
  • It has 'haven't', which means 'have not', so it does have a negative.
  • #1 is a case of 'yet' without 'not', however, as you say.

#2 doesn't qualify. It has 'haven't', which means 'have not', so it does have a negative.

#1 is a case of 'yet' without 'not', however, as you say. Here it's in a question, which is also a way it can be used. However, the question word order should be used:

Have you done it

CalifJim #2 doesn't qualify. It has 'haven't', which means 'have not', so it does have a negative. #CJ
Does it mean yet in #2 is not good way to say?

If I say 'Haven't you done it yet', doesn't it mean I expected you to finish this time but not done yet?

No. It does not mean that.

You said, in your first post,

Yet was not used with not. Something like #1 and #2.
