Haven't any apple

I know it's correct to use "I haven't got any apple". Is it correct to use "I haven't any apple" ?

In what context is this correct? Normally, we'd say "I haven't got any apples" in response to the question "Do you have any apples?" or "Do you have an apple?" It would be strange for someone to ask "Do you have any apple?", unless the speaker suspected that the listener actually did have an ap

"I haven't got any apple" sounds unidiomatic to me except in two contexts: (a) that of pie (or the like) mentioned by another poster in this thread; (b) that of pureed apple (e.g., baby food

The use of "got" is required in AmE, but optional (and often omitted) in BrE. However, as mentioned elsewhere, "apple" should be "apples" in both cases.
