have/need

Hi

Is there any difference between: "We have to talk" and "We need to talk" are they interchangeable?

Also: Should I say: All of the people or All people?

thanks

For most situations I can think of for that context, have to and need to are equivalent. have to may be slightly harsher and demanding; need to may be slightly gentler and sympathetic. But these differences are slight and can be modified by the appropriate tone of voice.

  • You can say either all of the people or all people or everyone or everybody .
  • The last two are more idiomatic in most situations.
