Have you heard of something like

Hi

Is the red part OK both in conversational English and written English? Do the sentences sound natural?

  1. Have you heard of something like a man killed his wife because she wore pink?
  2. Have you heard of something like a student finished a 500-hundred-page book in one sitting?
  3. Have you heard of something like a chicken attacked its owner ferociously?

Thanks,

Tom

Mr. Tom Is the red part OK both in conversational English and written English? I'd say they are barely acceptable in spoken English but not at all acceptable in writing.

I'd say they are barely acceptable in spoken English but not at all acceptable in writing.

'heard of something like' is virtually always followed by 'this', 'that', or 'it'.

They would sound more natural as "Have you heard of anything like a man killing his wife because she wore pink?" Etc.
