'Have you finished?' versus 'Are you finished?'

Hi Teachers,

If I want to ask someone if they have finished their homework, what's the difference between, 'Have you finished? and 'Are you finished?'

Thanks in advance

Hi 'Have you finished? You usually tell 'are you finished' when you are more impatient and it is can be used with your friends and peers. ' Sounds more demanding and impolite to me.

Hi

'Have you finished? is more polite than the other. You usually tell 'are you finished' when you are more impatient and it is can be used with your friends and peers. I think it would be impolite to tell a senior person 'are you finished?' Sounds more demanding and impolite to me.
