Which question is more correct?

a) Have you ever played chess?
b) Have you never played chess?

Hi Nina, You can't use the "never" in questions but in negative answers. It doesn't emphasize such a thing as you mentioned in questions since it is not used in questions.

As you know, I am a native speaker. Contrary to the other answers here, both these questions are grammatical, but the meanings are different.
  • "Have you ever played chess?" is a simple enquiry as to whether the other person has played chess.
