Have you ever/had you ever

I m confused about using "had you ever" and " have you ever", especially in the case below. It sounds to me very odd using "had".

Interviewing somebody who has become famous recently what is correct of the the two sentences below?

Have you ever imagined such fame and success?

Had you ever imagined such fame and succes?
