Please correct

The Johnson family have won a vacation

The Johnson family has won a vacation

Which is correct and why?

Thank you

It depends on whether you think of the family as a group of individuals - in that case, they are plural, and HAVE won.

But if you think of the family as a unit, then use the singular HAS. I'm inclinded to use this one.

Would someone help me determine if I am correct in using the have in this sentence instead of has?

My varying roles as a buyer, seller, investor, agent and office staff member have allowed me to identify one of the most important traits of a really good real estate agent.
