Hi, does I had a son in past tense writing express that I still have the son but used had because in past tense writing?

I'm vague, please advice me.

If I understand what you are vague about, no. I had a son means you don't have the son now. But perhaps you'd better give us a whole paragraph which includes what you are vague about.

Hi.
I had a son is a example I came up with.
I'm vague because I often got confused with the usage of Had.
My understand of Had are..

1)The past tense simply describes something as it looked in the past or reports something as it happened in the past. It doesn't say anything about the present.

2)Like you told me. Had = don't have

In readings, 'had' is still past.

So had is more likely use in first situation ?

Only conversation like these we use the second situation ?
John said "I had a son"

Lokon. both #1 and #2 are past. 'Had' is past.

Only in REPORTED SPEECH:

John said, "I have a son" = John said that he had a son. Here, John still has his son, presumably.
