Apart from the spelling correction from Clive, it's also worth noting that not all English speakers include "the" before flu. It's common in American English but, there is more than one kind of flu so, when speaking of it generally, "the" is generally not included by non-Americans.

That is generally the case.

When talking about it in general, there is no need for "the". Including "the" gives the impression that someone is referring to one of the particular kinds of flu https:/
