Have started

If we can't say

-I've received your gift for 5 days

and it must be changed to 'I received your gift 5 days ago'

can I say?:

-I've started to learn English for 40 years. (if yes, what's the meaning?)

Thank you.

Not unless you are starting now and have decided to continue for precisely 40 years (i.e.. until 2054).
