"Have quit something"

I quit smoking 4 years ago but can I say, "I have quit smoking"? And I have learned that there is a meaning difference between "I lost my wallet" and "I have lost my wallet", saying have lost implies that I do not have it now" and then if I have quit smoking" is okay to use, does it imply that "I am not a smoker anymore" or "have quit something" is logically wrong? What do you native English speakers think? Thank you so much as usual in advance.

Hans51 And I have learned that there is a meaning difference between "I lost my wallet" and "I have lost my wallet", I lost my wallet (past time) - you know you already lost your wallet sometime in the past and you haven't found it yet. I have lost my wallet -Same scenario, but now when you are expressing with the present element in mind, you would say "I have lost my wallet for a few days" ( at this minute I haven't found it yet). Use another context: John lost his job a month ago.
