Hi,

"Have you ever played tennis?"
"Yes, I __ played it."
A. have
B. have ever

which one is really correct true? If these are the choices, choose A. But the normal and natural answer would be the shorter 'Yes, I have', or simply 'Yes'.

CliveI wouldn't call it incorrect grammar to repeat 'ever', but it seems archaic and would often sound elaborately poetic. eg I have ever loved you, and shall ever love you ere I die.
However, this is a different meaning of "ever": here it means "always", not "at least once".
