Have or has?

When you're talking about a band, should you use have or has? "This band has/have always been my favourite band." Please, help me out Emotion: smile

This band has always been my favorite.
'Band' is a collective noun and is, thus, usually followed by a singular verb.

->The committee has given its opinion.

in case of committee it can also have 'HAVE'

eg: The committee have given their suggestions.

This particular sentence means that people in the committee gave different suggestions and these suggestions may be contradicting.
