Have not or did not have

Can I say They had nott the same opinion - or do I have to say: They didn't have the same opinion?

Hello Guest The 2nd version is better: They didn't have the same opinion. The 1st version could be amended to 'They hadn't the same opinion', but this format is much less common. MrP
