Have not done so already.

Hi..

I found this sentence from one the instruction books.

Insert the disc in the CD-ROM drive if you have not done so already.

I know what it's mean, but I have never seen that if phrase writing like that.

"you have not done so already".

Could someone explain about the grammar structure of that sentence.

I have already done so. I have not yet done so. In your sentence, "yet" in the place of "already" is preferred.
