Are both these sentences correct:


a) "In the past weeks, I've learned many things."


b) "In the past weeks, I learned many things."

To me, (a) seems more natural. However, I would not say that (b) is definitely wrong.

Although, If such question comes in an exam, and OP has to choose one answer. I think it's safer to choose (B) especially, if the teacher was not English native speaker. Because there is a rule in English grammar that distinguishes between Simple Past Tense and Present Perfect Tense as the following:
