Have just been served (with)/picked up refreshments.

In a pub:

Two of the drunk men have just been served (with) refreshments at/from the bar and are about to head back to their table when Mike comes back to his stool.

Two of the drunk men have just picked up refreshments at/from the bar and are about to head back to their table when Mike comes back to his stool.

1) How would you write this? (note: the drunk men pay for the 'refreshments' and a bartender gets them it)

2) Is it OK to use 'refreshments' here when talking about beers? Will it be understood?
