At present, we can state that the Philippines, our homeland, has not yet been a high-income country. It is, however, neither poor nor rich. We Filipinos strive hard without complaining. We use pens and papers, not guns and shields. We seek peace, not war. We mold leaders, not rebels. We show love, not hate. Our guide is God, not and never ourselves.
From whom have we inherited such characteristics as patience, love of peace, sense of leadership, and love of God? Does ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) contribute a lot to our development as a nation? How can these characteristics or attitudes lead us to a better future?
