Have I correctly used ‘which could stir a whirlpool of mixed emotions in me’ and ‘as if I were’ in the sentence?

I never thought my friends in the grade school had something to say which could stir a whirlpool of mixed emotions in me. I felt as if I were one of them…as if I were a teenage student again…
