Have I correctly used ‘was cut off’ in the sentence? What I mean is that what Helen had to say was interrupted by Norie’s screaming. Is ‘cut off’ the correct word for that?

When I asked Helen how she was, she replied, “I’m just…” She was cut off by Norie’s screaming. ‘Come one, Helen! We’ll be late for the party!”
