Have I correctly used the idiom ‘set foot’ in the following sentence? Should I say ‘in drug trafficking’ or ‘in the drug trafficking’?

I set foot in that city to cover a news about government officials involved (in drug trafficking, in the drug trafficking).

So you could say: "I only set foot in that city to cover the news about ...etc."
