Have I correctly used 'gain' in the sentence? Or should I say 'acquire' instead?

1. Dad hopes that I will gain/acquire the additional knowledge and skills I need in order to succeed in my chosen career.

2. Pastor Jackson hopes that I will gain/acquire the godly wisdom I need in order to rise to the challenges of modern times.
