I am having a bit of difficulty in understanding the usage of “have had” in some sentences.
I read this on some website and they have explained the usage of “have had”.
Sentence
“I have had a wonderful time traveling around the world.”
— My question is why can’t we say “I had a wonderful time traveling around the world.” ? ... because if you went out on a date with someone.. You would say
“I had a great time this evening”, right? Or should it be “ I have had a great time this evening”.
I know that have had is used to express the longevity of an action from past to the present but despite knowing this I still have doubts.
Could anyone explain me this in more simpler language and example? I am a bit confused.
Thanks
