Have had

Is it correct to say:

I have had a good drummer today

or should one say

I have had a good drummer play for me today.

They are both possible, but the second is obviously more explicit about the relationship between you and the drummer. The first is more something you would say in casual conversation when the other person already knows roughly what you've been doing.

I can't imagine using the present perfect in a real life situation. Simple past seems more natural.
If it's a one-day-stand, then it's over.
Even if you're auditioning drummers,
(perfect) I've had several drummers audition today.
(past) I had a good drummer audition today.
