Can I answer: No, I don't OR Yes, I do instead of No, I haven't got OR Yes, I have got.

You can answer that way if you want to. It doesn't sound odd.

I more often hear ' Do you have . . . ?'

As far as I know "Do you have ..." is American whereas "Have you got ..." is British English.
