have given

In the article I read an interview

The interviewee took a break for long.
The interviewer said,
'This is the first show you have given in a long time.'

Does this make sense?
I think 'have' shoud be changed by 'haven't'

' Do you want to say that the interviewer said (to the interviewee) that that was the first interview / show in which he/she had taken a break for a long time? If so, you could say: The interviewer said, "This is the first show in which you have taken a long break". (Or "This the first show in which you have taken a long break".
