Have black eyes

i was taught not to use the sentence "I have black eyes" becuase it meant that i have bruises around my eyes, but i saw that sentence appears in an English textbook for children. i'm starting to wonder if i was wrong. Can anyone tell me which usage is correct? thanks!

You can say,"I have dark eyes". People will know that you mean dark brown.

Why do you have black eyes?

We say I have blue eyes, brown eyes, or hazel eyes, because it is the actual color of our eyes.

If someone would say to me..."I have black eyes" I would interpret that as meaning they were in a fight or an accident and they were hit in the eyes and therefore, they now have black eyes.
