"have been" vs "had been"

Hi,

Sometimes, I get confused with "had been" and "have been." For example, should I say:

Hey, I'd been waiting for you! Or
Hey, I've been waiting for you!

when I was waiting for someone for a long time and finally the guy showed up?

I think "had been" is proper because the waiting is already over, but on the other hand I think I hear the "have been" version in practical English.

Which is correct?

Say the second one. The situation is still continuing when you say this: I've been waiting for you.

Use the one with had next week or next month o
