Yes. They are not quite the same thing though. As they stand the first describes what you did earlier, while the second describes what you are doing now.

Remember to use a capital letter for the first letter of a sentence, and for the pronoun I wherever it appears in the sentence.

You might eg write a note for your husband/wife, saying I have gone to the airport to see my friend off, and leave the note on your kitchen table.

Let's say I and my girlfriend are on the phone. Which of the three is better to say:

1. I've gone to the airport to see my friend off

2. I'm going to the airport to see my friend off

3. I'm on my way to the airport to see my friend off

Where are you when you phone?

Here are some locations, and some things you might say.

There are other things, too.

eg At home
I'm going to the airport to see my friend off

Thanks,

Hmm... as far as I understand, you wouldn't use I've gone to the airport while being on the phone and talking to your wife, for example.

No. You might say that in a note you left at home.

Perfect Strangeryou wouldn't use I've gone to the airport while being on the phone and talking to your wife, for example.
Correct. I wouldn't use that. With certain adverbs, though, and within certain scenarios, you can use those words, of course.

Many is the time I've gone to the airport to pick up a friend only
