Have Been + Since
Hello
Can someone tell me why we need to add- I have been working in my company since 1992.
and why is it not necessary with this sentence: I have lived in New York since 1992.
Also I believe it is correct to say: I have been living in New York since 1992.
I hope this is clear, I want to know why and when it is necessary to use 'have been', when using 'since'.

YOu need to use present perfect continuous ( have been doing ) with 'since' time references when the action is obviously still continuing without respite. I've been wearing these pants since Tuesday -- no change of pants. I've worn these pants since Tuesday -- at least once between then and now.

YOu need to use present perfect continuous (have been doing) with 'since' time references when the action is obviously still continuing without respite.
I've been wearing these pants since Tuesday -- no change of pants.
I've worn these pants since Tuesday -- at least once between then and now.
